About Me
I am Vytas Kriaučiūnas, and I am an amateur road cyclist building toward elite-level cycling physiology. I'll begin by heading off the first three questions everyone asks:
-
My name is Lithuanian. It's in eastern Europe, one of the Baltic states.
-
It's pronounced Vee-tas Crow-choo-nas. For 'velovytas' think Vel-o-veeta cheese.
-
Despite all the vowels and symbols, I was born, raised, and for some reason am still living in Indiana.
I grew up playing all kinds of sports but spent the most time with soccer and pole vault. In college I ignored cardio almost entirely and began weightlifting, so deciding to train for an Ironman after graduating university in 2018 (go Hoosiers!) was a shock to the system. Well, a half and full distance Ironman and a handful of marathons and ultramarathons later I decided to focus on only cycling in late 2024.

Why Cycling? Why Now?
After a particularly disappointing 2024 race season I knew I needed something to change but wasn't sure what. After spending some time away from triathlon and racing, I found a singular focus: Cycling. Among other reasons I love it, it was the triathlon discipline I excelled in (relatively) and enjoyed the most.
But I couldn't just switch up from being average at three sports (swim, bike, run) to maybe slightly above average at one or I'd wind up just as disappointed. I needed a goal so unreasonable even to myself that it would force me to build better habits and be radically, ruthlessly consistent. Thus, "The Project".
The Site
I like my privacy (maybe a byproduct of working in cybersecurity) and have never been a "post my workouts online" guy. I've dabbled a time or two but never committed because it felt cringy and honestly, who cares?
That said, I've been inspired by others' fitness journeys posted online so, I figured I'd create a website and maybe serve that same function for others. And if not then at least my friends and family will know what I mean when I say, "Sorry, I've been so busy lately".
So, this is my training journal. Every session gets logged here. All the power data, heart rate, intentions, pivots, and reflection on it all. If you're here, you're watching the raw process unfold in real time.
